The charm of magical
realism. Arguably the most significant writer of our time…and an enduring
influence.
Another scoundrel
masquerading secularism
Mahesh
Bhatt is a pretentious attention seeker who fashions himself as some kind of conscience
keeper of sort, it is something well known among dwellers of TV studios and elitizens.
Loud mouth fellow moving around the fringe constantly on lookout has become an affliction.
The only movie worth mentioning is Saraansh
that too because of astounding performance of Anupam Kher. Some of his other
movies are alright by Indian standards, but having had substantial exposure to
best of International cinema, I can say, with much authority as an audience,
that these are woefully inadequate, pedestrian fair. They expertise in titillation
and feed on controversy, quite adept in using pliable market media in their favour.
The fact that he has Bhatt as identity I am not delving at this stage, the
caste feudal accruing is inbuilt. But our little man has gone much further in
his manipulation. He has converted to Islam, we are told for the sake of marriage!
Personal choice all right but what kind of love is this? It is condoning the inherent
bias in the name of faith, any enlightened person wouldn’t give a damn about
these.
I
understand and support people converting for monetary gain and social security
but this beyond me. No religion is superior than other, therefore conversion
for better is deeply communal choice. This no doubt pleases the mullahs, the superiority
over other dogmatism. It is double whammy delight for the mullahs and deeply humiliating
for temple squatters. This rarified space is where our pretentious fellow finds
his bearings. It no coincidence that he became quite popular in deviant (but
very much mainstream) Pakistan, this nation is spiraling into pits thanks to
mullahs (can you ever imagine ‘blasphemy laws’ in India or any other civilized
society?). This therefore makes him a wonderful secularist. The obscurantist elements
seeks these pointers to work out their gameplan, market calls it branding. So if
we support him, how do we do that?, maybe by watching his daughter’s movie (it’s
all in the family, nepotism noji no…we are all quite talented family), which is
running just across the street. This called timingz (courtesy ZK). It is always
people who suffer, but these are not the concerns of these scoundrels. These pretentious
elitizens could cannibalize people if that is what helps their career. Secularism
as is practiced is divisive and a ploy to garner public space and the benefits
therein.
There
is another perverse that is been doing the round for some time now, the secularism
patriarchy. Take the example, Subhashini Ali (whom Crude woman considers as hamare apne!). Marrying a Muslim and adopting
his surname and still sticking to the surname even after divorce is no doubt a choice.
Acquiescing to patriarchy is a small price in leftist feminist conception when secularism
is the grand prize. Muslim surname very definitely surpasses much beyond secularly
beautiful world. A catch must be squeezed to all it’s worth!! It is in leftist feminist
manifesto!! See it’s like this: Crude woman has acted with Rajesh Khanna only
once that too after his prime, but she gave impression that she was much ahead
of Tagore. Even if the person dies you must squeeze his last worth manipulating
condolence. Crudeness is not a choice if played well. Obnoxious Bhatt thrives
for the same reason. Thankfully TV studios are not the world and these small
time manipulations don’t have much significance. I wrote about this to bring
out how some people make a living out of nothing.
Thackeray’s day
out: I am no fan
of Thackeray clan, they are all here to create misery. But yes their increasing
acceptability points to failure of law, and manipulation by mainstream
political parties for small time gains. It is only a matter of time when these
small time gains go out of control (example Indira Gandhi- Binderanwale). Then of
course they can play secularism. The interview of Raj Thackeray in some of the
TV channel was a classic; he really put the pretentious market media in its
place. Sardesias and Goswamis were seen quivering. It was hilarious as well as cathartic
for the audience. Like millions I don’t find Indian news channel (particularly
the English) worth spending any time on, they are manipulative and trivial. There
is no news but opinions of amazingly superficial people!! The pinnacle of
disgust was when this one going all the way to Uttrakhand during flood (and yes
occupying precious space of rescue operations, in an immense tragedy) and
satellite linking to small time actors to get their view!! Thankfully we have
internet options, and some great websites with deep insights.
