Degrading young minds, the threat of devious minoritarianism

In a degraded society every innovation will nurture manipulative space every benign effort will find its starkest denominator. Mid-day meal was such an innovative benign scheme that now scraps the worst of possibilities. The intention was to provide essential nutrition to children, in a society that has rampant malnutrition, as also to prevent school dropout. Food is a compelling incentive in poverty ridden society. India languishes at the bottom of social indices, much lower than many poorest exploited countries and war torn horrendous places on earth. These are not accidental, nor is it fate as being cleverly posited. It’s an indication of much deeper malaise of a primitive society. India also is home to amazing biodiversity that is being wantonly exploited. It lacks caliber to be the guardian of such bountiful legacy, to inform people, create awareness and learn about these. It is stuck in some entitled boogey land with appropriated and plagiarized concepts coded in sanskrit that is showcased as indication of high bearing which when meets the reality creates hilarious irony. ‘Wildlife’ related program are mostly by white men with repeated focus on big mammals or few reptiles, specifically crocodiles and snakes, theatrics taken out of context from the ecosystem to gladiator ogling. What makes it worse is anthropomorphized narrations with misogynist intent.

Midday meal in schools is also intended to create inclusive value system in a society that is known for its primitive ways that originates from depraved sanctum into patriarchal family unit. It is expected to empathize with eating habit context and care for each child’s self-belief. If any change is suggested or if standardized norms is imposed against the majority then it must fulfill logical scrutiny. It just cannot be based on value system, considering that this society is too unevolved and has horrendous past. So when Akshyapatra (a high end NGO providing midday meal for children in govt schools in many states) imposes its value system through food habit on to young minds it is a serious concern. These should have been handled at the outset (this blogger pointed it out few years back) and if the NGO concerned doesn’t change its stand then it should be blacklisted. Akshyapatra prides itself for hygiene standards and efficiency, it is unfortunate that these should have been handled by the State and community while an NGO preens meanwhile cunningly imposes its dubious will. There can be debate on Non vegetarian food option, vegetarian, indeed vegan, is quite logical evolved choice that children need to be aware of. But we need also keep in mind the level of abject malnutrition and poverty, and more significantly the degradation through purity of vegetarian cannibalism that is sought to be pushed in. There is no denying that boiled eggs must be part of midday meal scheme (handling, preparation and nutritional needs fulfills the criteria quite well). Anyone against this is peddling sanctum scum’s value system at the expense of life and wellbeing of common people.

The high end NGO (run by market fed branded technocrats and purity seeking investors) nurtured by state is playing a horrible joke on the misery of common people. The food distributed by them doesn’t contain garlic and onion, it seems these are considered impure. I had a peculiar incidence of IIT professor elaborating these to me in detail few years back! Meanwhile during lunch he asked about the ingredients to the hapless serving boy, on being told about onion and garlic he visibly winced and refused to eat. Such rudeness (that too in the presence of people who are consuming the same food) can only be explained through uncouthness of entitled sanctum that has severely degraded the society. That he happened to be a teacher at IIT Delhi makes it worst, and an assertion to the primitive nature of the society that is way too entrenched, and is being nurtured by deep state. Obviously this buffoon’s contribution in technology can only be limiting, not to speak of his worth as a teacher. Onion and garlic are important ingredients of food prepared by common people in almost all home across the country. Indeed one see many times poor people (like laborers, rickshaw pullers or in crowded trains) eating roti with raw onions. Onion is ubiquitous with Indian food preparation and as a salad is the first thing offered in lower end hotels. The price of onion is even manipulated to decide the fate of elections. So to classify onion and garlic as impure and not worth to be consumed is seriously problematic. And understanding the context of this primitive society it is no doubt a crime. It also is meant to degrade the mindset of children of poorer, marginal and exploited sections (the target of spreading purity in the garb of hygienic food) in a society that is tenuously hinged to any egalitarian value system or humanistic considerations. If children are being fed, or even hinted, with the notion that what they eat at home is impure (one can initiate reducing meat diet or vegan as ethical personal choice and the logics at work), or that it lacks, it is an attempt at dehumanizing the child from his/her nurturing space, loved ones and is indeed blocking the empathetic value system. It is a sinister attempt at not only isolating the child from the surrounding but also poisoning his/her reasoning faculty and mindset (that is meant to be inquisitive, accommodative and open to learn) while entrenching into dubious value system that can only degrade and spread misery. As it is the mediocres nurtured by casteist feudal uncouth deep state has put english into primacy, and with it syllabus that rarely reflects the surrounding hence amazing level of mediocrity that seeks education to sniff money as final outcome of blessing.

AkshayaPatra has no business to serve food to children under midday meal scheme. They can set up their purity shop somewhere else to earn punya. There is no reason why AkshyaPatra should not be blacklisted.

Well done madam

KK Shailaja, the Health minister of Kerala, is arguably a competent minister who has proved herself not once but twice as the panic driven society (densely populated and literate -hence quite aware and inquisitive) was on edge as nipah virus reared its head. Excellent work madam.

A dangerous scoundrel

This scoundrel is most dangerous man on the earth right now. Encouraged by Orange Puffball –who in turn was placed by the ecosystem created through market media exaggeration, manipulation and perception that is causing havoc around the world. What they do in gun toting pro life hell holes of US is a concern but bringing it (essentially white supremacist christian hash) outside US will have to be dealt. This is a threat to humanity. More than 15years back they did the same on Iraq despite severe criticism from around the world. They killed and maimed hundreds and thousands of innocent people based on fiction (for which market media played a significant part), severely destabilizing the region, meanwhile war criminals still roam around with impunity. The war mongering US industry is seeking profit over life and sanity. These dangerous moves against Iran must be stopped.

Today is World Biodiversity day

Puss is out

Indian news channels across the board, around the country, are oozing puss in the last few days with all kinds of mediocres and chatterbox buffoons, like maggots eating rotting flesh, converging to '
analyse' the exit poll (?!). Experts in inanities, bullshit vendors and repetitive ritualistic blabber mouths...all bring their handful puss from putrid pits as opinion with specific aim to degrade and negate common people's sensibilities and intelligence. And manipulate as arbitrators with absolutely no skills, caliber or intelligence but high on entitlements as incredible experts (they also come as political analyst/even political scientist?! The sickness has many euphemism) meanwhile the another bunch work to sniff opportunities for market to barge in to grab with knickknacks and lollipops to make the life better using indian understanding of artists and sportpersons all specifically ordered and fed to amass money and be role models to eager juveniles fattening as mindless couch potatoes in ever increasing blessedness. Pity this nation. Pity this society. And this is what great humans strove for ages to unravel forces of nature and create wonderful technologies so that we can experience reality better, have incisive understanding on true nature of things? Atleast provide an occasion to listen to views of amazing evolved minds, instead of cheapskate manipulators who have views on anything and everything, as if specially blessed. Indians don't measure up at all. What a shoddy bunch. Crass and uncouth, as is the nature of deep state. For Indians every occasion is an occasion to touch the base, and take everything down with it into the putrefying pit, whether wonder of democracy or incredible potential of technology.

Urgent need to halt incursions of regressive systems

Continuing with article below...

These examples shows the level of mediocrity of Indian media and the devious opportunists who control these. Such is the obsequious connection to colonial masters that they constantly have the urge for authentication from white man eking in london dustbin. These media houses are not only incompetent but have absolutely no connection to any truth nor are concerned about any indian reality except posturing for benefits, or most importantly hinging to beneficial narrations for bigger gains. The embryonic connection with british fluffs is also to be noted for english as defining factor for arbitration even if it misses the point of what is being pushed in, so is the fact that they really don’t have any worthy columnists, except brands. It doesn’t matter though as not many read these. Large content reading has seen a massive drop in recent times as people have many outlets to choose from and their attention span is now reduced to tree dwelling species. This therefore is the echo chamber of despicable elite that one has the occasion to peek.

Today I was reading one pravasi bharat posturer in the same newspaper (always make sure to return the newspaper to seller, deny even a single penny to them). While writing on Islamophobia (a touchy subject for cunning manipulators, since they are confused in the fast changing dynamics as to where the lick is) he very confidently asserts that “…Any perusal of Islam, by laymen, by theologians, by scholars and renowned Imams will prove that the religion does not, in any interpretation, instruct people to tie explosives to themselves and kill innocent people. Neither does any interpretation of the Quran or the Hadith justify driving vans into people walking on the pavements of Westminster Bridge. These are far-fetched willful medieval interpretations unacceptable to most Muslims in the contemporary world…”. These kind of statements will definitely get him admirers in the ecosystem that is being nurtured wherein religion is being positioned as benign force. This is serious matter and shouldn’t be allowed to be passed into mainstream by these devious anglers without scrutiny. Religion is without any exception segregatory and works against creation of free community with thinking contemplative individuals connected to realities and fickleness of forces of nature and are ready to face emerging challenges and opportunities. Religion not only produces unthinking followers but opens space for exploitation and brutalities as also takes humans away from the exciting realities and contemplative possibilities to replace it with grand fictions that further alienates humans. The delirious effects of these delusions we are seeing all around us and persistently worked to diminish our reality. Every religion has provided space for violence in varying degree and islam is definitely not an exception (there are enough mentions in ‘holy books’ that points to acceptance of violence, however benignly one may try to interpret, indeed, why should one work to interpret? Why aren’t these in simple unequivocal language if it is meant to spiritually guide humans?). Significantly, if the society is ready to accept something written few centuries back as ultimate truth, and is incapable to factor in evolving understandings, ideas and evolution of societies all through the ages then there is something seriously wrong. It is a serious incursion into humanity and progressive value system on which human rights are hinged on. It is an assault on intellect and insult on basic intelligence of individuals and common sense. It is a deep gash on empathy and tolerance, and this is precisely what religion is pushing in (and in its perversity claiming to be victim of the same).
This has to be understood, and it is about time to turn the table on religion as to why is that it segregates and is incapable to accept its fallacies and limitation, and be humble to the human predicament? Also, why is it exciting reactionary forces and regressive value system across the world? This denial of abortion in a US state has everything to do with religion. The oft repeated excuse of it being wrongly interpreted doesn’t rub any more we have well past it. If it is interpretable then the religion is at fault for allowing it to be interpreted. The onus is very much on the religion. There is absolutely no reason to see religion as benign force, indeed it need to be put in strident scrutiny on every available occasion. Not an inch of hard earned space for empathy and individual liberty must be acceded. History is witness to amazing level of atrocities in the name of religion as also inspired by religions, this framework have always been against progressive ideas –the same that nurtured value system encouraging critical faculty of questioning, doubting and inquiring that has led to spectacular understanding of forces of nature and development of modern amenities.

It is about time religions are opened to strident critical scrutiny, instead to being treated as sacred and outside the realm of inquiry or criticism. Religion is churning lots of BS and misery, and it is increasingly clear that it is not part of the solution but is here to accentuate problems while dehumanizing and keeping ordinary people in juvenile mindset that is easy to be exploited. It is therefore unfortunate that Britain is moving towards recognizing islam on par with race, hence in a strange appalling travesty, racism as islamophobia. Britain has been seriously compromised, and the wave of rise of reactionary forces across West can be quite easily be traced to spread of these insular regressive value system which is sought to be protected in the garb of religion. And the pretentious fattened fluffs trying to hide their hypocrisies and hedonistic lifestyle, add to it the angst of colonial exploitation, have turned them into pliable patronizers who are ever ready to lower the benchmark of human dealings (so much so that monster mullahs thrive with all comfort taken care). Britain, specifically, has created more misery to the world than any other country. It’s about time that international community take note of this. This woman “baroness” (look at the irony) Sayeeda Warsi is dangerous and is in the same league as Nigel farage, Marine le pen, Geert Wilders…She shouldn’t be allowed to play the Muslim angst (a religion which definitely needs to reform, it has become a burden on common people and evolved sensibilities). There is no denying that there is rise of racism, but it should be dealt separately and shouldn’t be allowed to mix with religion and create this devious excuse for serious encroachments.

Religion is a subjective reality, unlike race or gender (this too is becoming quite fluid, one hopes even race becomes immaterial as societies evolve), the attempts to solidify it as objective need be fiercely resisted. This regressive anachronistic presence shouldn’t be allowed the prominence in human dealing that it seeks, and must be firmly put in its place. Meanwhile attack and abuse on individuals pursuing their faith must be dealt as law and order issue, and not as a systemic problem since the system in itself is under scrutiny and surely has dubious juvenile value context. Attack on individual is different from attack on faith. Individual is real while faith is part of a system that isn’t real, a human conception, hence cannot carry the same gravity nor it should ever. Systems will have to fulfill the needs to protect human rights and individual liberty as also evolve with the logics and awareness of the realities, empathizing with the predicaments.

If common people are moving towards xenophobic right, that too in societies that is deemed to be progressive, where citizen are known to be more open minded and empathetic to varying viewpoints, and have vibrant democratic institutions, then the religion concerned must be put into scrutiny. Nothing is sacrosanct and to be accepted as if ordained, least a religion. Take for instance the recent protest by parents against egalitarian teaching in schools (found as age appropriate and valuable by experts) for inclusive society on the ground that it goes against their religion. This is significant pointer to understand what we face and how it is eating into the society. As it is humane space in the world is reducing (by the onslaught of religion and capitalism greed poison). Hence it becomes urgent that religion shouldn’t be allowed any space to intrude into egalitarian value system. There must be increase in phobia against system that restrict and restrain humanity, undermines human values, dignity and liberty, which seeks to bludgeon humans into unthinking followers whose critical faculties are systematically weakened. There must be religiophobia. There must be islamophobia. There must be hinduphobia. Religions must be critically examined and stridently opposed wherever and whenever it encroaches on human rights and poses as benign presence on the misery of people. Religion is a threat hence it cannot play victim. Individuals can be victims, this can be dealt on case by case basis with the rule of law taking extra care that regressive value system is not normalized or accepted in any form.

These attempts to mainstream regressive frameworks in the guise of faith and capitalizing on angst of common people is a serious incursion on basic human rights. Values associated with liberty and equality are hard won with lots of sacrifice by remarkable people that helped in civilizing human societies and giving hope to each individual. These values have always been persistently threatened by powerful entrenched groups and regressive value system that always find easy alibi in religion (which ofcourse presents itself as such, it is indeed futile to find otherwise from something that was written many centuries back working on entirely different context and space, the brutalities and insecurities). As it is these hard won values that assures humanity a space to exist is tenuous and on ever shrinking grounds in most societies. Britain must take responsibility against these serious incursions. History will never forgive, nor will the future generations.

When the celebration lacks subtleties

I had not a very pleasant occasion to witness Thrissur pooram, tagged as world’s wonder by the incorrigible sickness of exaggeration that is quite common with bunch that claim capacity to commune with forces of universe at the shortest notice. Though I must add in my favor that I left the celebration of vulgarism at the earliest possible occasion. Anything that emerges from sanctum squatter’s frame will have to have value system hinging on crude that so effortlessly percolates into herd population –who give clear indication that literacy cannot really become education and that these are eons away from any hint of wisdom. So much crowd (but kerala crowd are much better than the crowd I have witnessed across the country –that has no shortage of people for any occasion except ofcourse when quality and excellence is on display, who always have potential to become mob) and high decibel noise, add to it the sultry humid weather that you are not at all in the mood for celebration, it surely gets nauseating. But Indian crowd are sturdier lot, trained from childhood to resign to fate, of waiting and longer queues that adds up to nothing while the cleverer adept in bypassing these, then there are stampede, pushing and jostling that adds to critical ingredient of chance, these then are to be taken as normal while they get trained to carry eternal optimism in a fatalistic sense having experienced the worst that is to offer on daily basis in their public dealings. What is surely at display is not subtleties but orchestrated vulgar control and dominance. The teeming crowd (mostly boisterous young male) are taken for granted as facilities provided are rudimentary and careless, crowd management is almost nonexistent except that people are contained in cordoned spaces (they wait for major tragedy to get attention till then its about fate). The control is also on display through elephants. It is quite saddening to see rows of caparisoned elephants, 40-50 of them participating in day long activity in batches, standing to the noisy fare adorned in heavy metal and chained in hot sun while humans display glittering colorful umbrellas over them. These juvenile exhibitions are much appreciated by the crowd and indeed is the highlight.

High decibel celebration and showcasing infantile grandeur is the norm in this part the world. The framework is always to awe strike rather than any hint of deeper appreciation or contemplation, it hinges on tawdry as culture. These have been frozen in time, elevated as tradition, while repeated every year without any creative additions or taking in the dynamics and understanding of the age. It is common feature of religion related nonsense that they are incapable to evolve, tends to get trapped in some dark age medieval matrix though show no qualms in using modern gadgets (ofcourse seen as blessing and not amazing efforts, ideas and value system working behind these inventions and innovations).  As it is these are elaborate rituals that is meant to create unthinking herds out of humans (the defining characteristics of sanctum) as everything gets reduced to in this miserable society, even something with immense possibilities and as enlightening as education. These when it gets into Indian reality finds it mediocre base while blessed Indians celebrate success in drab and inane (indeed useless indicator as marks/records) as achievement. The reason why Indians don’t match the rigors and challenges of reality, hence quite successful as replicators, indeed humble and enthusiastic replicators like jovial hamsters in a running mill. Ofcourse there are occasions of incremental thinking as also replicating with cheaper option these then are genius of this wanting society. They happily exist in the mirage of entitlement and blessed greatness. Hence everything has to be dumbed for them to showcase their achievements since in exacting standards they woefully lack. Education as scoring marks is intelligence (hapless children are earliest victims into the norms of the primitive society), clearing entrance exam that may have nothing to do with inclination, like say, IIT (indeed the struggle is for the brand!) or field of study MBA or career that has nothing to do with relevance -power desiring feudal jobs-IAS/IPS/IRS etc. seen as blessing for higher purpose in life! Education is specifically meant to multiply money, acquire power and influence, these then are cleverly worked out to exhibit blessing. Art is dumbed down to amazingly mediocre and pandering affair while exhibitors are referred to as artists. Sports, as game of wastrel’s cricket, specifically meant to trap common people into self-defeating ludicrous nonsense. The common thread here is to keep any attempts to the lowest denominator so as to manipulate as also means to control fate hence firmer grip on narration, since anyone with some basic skills can be very easily be exaggerated as artist or sportsperson while in reality Indian sports and art scene is woefully lacking. This template is attempted into every aspect. Look at the standard of journalism, quality of engineers, priorities of doctors or even as critical function as being a teacher (arguably attracting the worst of its kind, these representing values of putrid pit makes it sinister). Indian scientist is an oxymoron while exceptions are despite. It is such a shame. What really gets me is this constant rant of being specially blessed while neck deep in putrefying muck. The audacity of it. The mainstream that is institutionalized through state power in the last many decades is amazingly rotten infecting even the subaltern enlightening peripheral thus quality becomes increasingly rare and rarer while values are compromised for easy gain, meanwhile the mass is kept constantly mesmerized in self-consuming mirage. As the society scraps the bottom market becomes the key arbitrator. Sanctum entrapment strategies gets polished into GDP aspirations as artists and sportsperson set out on original intent of catching eyeballs and sell knickknacks, jovially exchanging careers and denominatored skills. They could do anything, ofcourse limited by their own limitation than lack of trying. It is in this melee providence and good fortune finds easy traction as these mediocres become devious tool to manipulate the miserable audience into pliable excited people –who are consistently exposed to cheap vulgar mediocrities that it becomes their benchmark of dealings. Lacking any discerning skills they hold the sacred belief, very much orchestrated by cunning arbitrators, that putrid pit is specially designed grandness.

Stuck in time warp the herd replicate tradition into celebration, then there is compelling narration of nostalgia. The worst aspect of these festivities is use of firecrackers that causes amazing levels of noise and air pollution, a responsible society would scale these down and when it is in the name of religion it is crude, shows the level of depravity and incapacity to provide enlightened empathy driven path to society. Atleast show some concern for ‘ambala prav’ instead of restricting it as motif for songs. These few minutes’ cringe worthy godly entertainments is so very common place and stale while keeps herd populace in trance, entrapped as they are in lowest expectation and least awareness.  Many societies across the world from London to Sydney to Beijing invite New Year thus. What kind of people are these? They are incapable to evolve with time nor have the caliber for it indeed have any concern. What is shocking in this society is that they are the arbitrators of moral bearings. This ‘world famous’ celebration at Thrissur has everything from animal abuse to environment pollution to patriarchy –lack of women in the celebration ritual is striking, lacking any innovation hence staid affair replicated year after year that keeps increasing burden on society while showcasing warped value system. Though obnoxiously loud the percussion rendition (chenda vadyam) slowly grows onto you and stays forever, and being exposed to these from early childhood it has pointers that excites senses and can have a profound impact if experienced in leisure. That is the only possibility in this crowded loud and messy fare on a muddy day that one can very tenuously connect with, ofcourse the colors too are mesmerizing.

While staying in literate putrid pit the angst positioning news outlet run by castetva have been expressing anguish against hindutva at every conceivable occasion meanwhile dexterously promoting caste agenda. So nurturing high posturing casteist columnist comes natural as also align with the deep nature of disgusting society thus exciting opportunist marketeer to sponsor. The article titled “A paralysis of thought is marginalizing Left” by casteist essentially mediocre columnist with exaggerated self-worth, and as expected easily slips into pontification. Apart from juvenile views she writes “…the party in kerala is energetic, popular and successful, even after it was involved in a fight that was dangerous enough to derail its politics, because it plunged the CPI(M) into confrontation over religious practice and change over Sabarimala issue”. This Bengali woman clearly fed on the hypocritical elitist narration of Bengal commies and very possibly fed on british fluff's angst posturing (that has fed commies into oblivion in Bengal) doesn’t know that fighting demeaning rituals and resisting despicable religious practices is how Kerala communism grew and gained acceptance among common people unlike Bengal commies who ensconced to putrid pit, associating with british hypocritical values and fooling common people. Liberal posturing craps like this woman must be given a short course on kerala history. Ofcourse kerala communists will have to pay for hypocrisies in other matters as also blatant violence unleashed meanwhile castetva congress hypocrisies are being persistently encashed by hypocrisy ridden hindutva. Phew. The despicable politicians aptly representing equally regrettable population.

Another defining characteristic of castetva posturing -as savior of beleaguered minority, as they scoop up gravy while anchoring hedonistic bearing and wanton lifestyle was on display when an intellectually challenged british columnist was given space in this same pretentious media outlet not ironically on the same page. This fellow worked out to even question UN report on species extinction. He seems to singularly incapable to understand dire projections and logical extension into future (while IUCN is credible fact on these matter, indeed IUCN need to update now on much regular basis) as various data points to serious problems. Lacking knowledge is bliss but not spreading this lack, and what to say about mediocre Indians who promote this here in Indian newspaper... May i suggest this buffoon to pick up 'The Sixth Extinction' (by Elizabeth Kolbert) as a starter. He concludes his con work column “No doubt our ‘way of life’ does pose a threat to some species, even if it’s not as many as the climate alarmist say…” Our British man (these morons do get heavily paid) –incidentally a well placed white man -so very uncommon(!!), is posturing as entitled sane voice (like caste gandhi was while dealing egalitarian anti-caste ideas). These people are fed and fattened by the system. Beware of these posturers. We need to seek their carbon footprint.

Nautilus paradigm in mass extinction

This is Nautilus (Nautilus pompilius), a cephalopod that evolved around 500million years ago, it has therefore seen all the major extinction events that wiped out 99% of species ever lived. This living fossil is a remarkable success story that oversaw billions of species vanishing around it over millions of years of earth’s tumultuous and violent history. Starting with major extinction event around 444million years ago; the End Ordovician extinction that wiped out 86% of species which bloomed during the Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event. The biodiversification unfortunately led to too much CO2 accumulation over millions of years, that eventually caused glaciation. Life had not evolved onto land hence the extinction was confined to ocean. Nautilus survived this first big extinction event. Next was Late Devonian extinction that happened around 365million years ago again in Paleozoic era that took away 70% to 80% of species, caused by culmination of series of events over millions of years but mainly due to drastic drop in O2 in Devonian ocean because of sedimentation. It needs to be pointed out that life had moved to land to create first terrestrial ecosystem consisting of trees and tetrapods, these terrestrial ecosystem within few million years developed into carboniferous forest. At this geological time scale landmass of earth had coalesced into supercontinent Pangea (meaning all lands). The ocean moisture did not reach the interior of pangea, there was severe drop of humidity and temperature which led to dying of carboniferous trees. Next big extinction event was one of the catastrophic occurrence that very nearly wiped out life from earth.  The End Permian extinction event happened about 250million years ago. Geological evidence through Siberian traps points to massive volcanic event that went on for millions of years, covering the basalt lava to a landmass as large as America in a mile deep, this activated a cycle of acid rain and huge amount of CO2 into the atmosphere, the situation was made much dire by methane hydrates that accelerated into runway greenhouse, increasing the temperature by as much as 10degress Celsius, wiping out a staggering 96% of species. Nautilus survived this one too, and it need to be noted that all the species, including Homo sapiens, that survive today are from the evolution of this 4% left over species. About 50million later another major extinction event referred to as Late Triassic extinction wiped off 76% of all marine and terrestrial species. The exact reasons are not yet confirmed but seems to culmination of series of unfortunate events of glaciation, volcanoes and possibly asteroids. Ofcourse this event has reference in popular imagination as it snuffed out the apex predator opening it in favor of dinosaurs, who ruled for millions of years evolving and occupying all niche of ecosystem.

The next extinction event is arguably the most discussed and much exposed in mainstream media and entertainment. The End Cretaceous extinction event or Cretaceous Paleogene extinction event or simply K-T extinction event happened about 66million years ago, it wiped out 75% of species, significantly the charismatic dinosaurs. The evidence of asteroid strike got emboldened in thin layer of cretaceous clay without marine lifeforms sandwiched between abundance and handful marine lifeforms. Lucky find for geologist Walter Alvarez whose meticulous persistence with some providential insight from Nobel laureate father paid off big time. It was his physicist father who came up with the wild idea of clocking the clay using element Iridium.
Now, Iridium is extremely rare on the surface of the earth but much common in meteorites. Bits of meteorites constantly rain down on earth but the amount of Iridium in the clay sample was way off the chart. It had to be asteroid. Corroboration through ‘shocked quartz’ consolidated asteroid impact hypothesis. Final conclusion came with the discovery of ‘crater of doom’ –a 150km wide crater was discovered beneath Yucatan peninsula of Mexico, widely known after the nearest town, as the Chicxulub crater. All because of clairvoyant collaboration of geology and physics upping the providence. The reason why it is increasingly important to have collaborative study, open outlook and inquisitive inviting mindset. All these singularly absent in our education system. One is reminded of Feynman (today quite coincidently is also the birthday of the incredible man) “If our small minds, for some convenience…divide this universe, into parts –physics, biology, geology, astronomy, psychology, and so on –remember that nature does not know it!”
Cephalopods like ammonites (quite popular among fossil collectors) too became extinct in the K-T event, but nautilus survived this one too. A comparison of ammonites and nautilus is worthy focus here. While ammonites produced very tiny, barely a millimeter, eggs, the resulting hatchlings just floated near the surface of the earth while Nautilus eggs were very large, indeed largest of all invertebrates, over two centimeters in diameter. Hatchling emerge only after a year of gestation, which swam into the depths for food. These critical differences set ammonites for extinction although they were perfectly adapted to their ecosystem but couldn’t take the abrupt change. Nautilus survived all these extinction events and is living among us. And now after 500million years it is on the verge of extinction pushed by the greed and misplaced priorities of an upstart specie. Wonder what nautilus thinks about humans?  I guess it will just try to avoid. That surely is the best option to deal something that doesn’t care to understand the meaning of it all despite amazing level of insightful knowledge nor the mindfulness to experience, and all the while carrying grand illusion of itself exacerbated by the systems it has nurtured. In the words of inimitable Carl Sagan “…The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark…”
After billions of years, when oxygen producing cyanobacteria changed the content of atmosphere leading to mass extinction of countless species of anaerobic bacteria, it is for the first time that a specie has so catastrophically impacted the survivability of earth’s life form. We are firmly in Anthropocene extinction event or Anthropogenic impacted extinction event. The cataclysmic changes humans have brought in an insignificant geological timescale is unprecedented and is indeed alarming. The Global Assessment Report on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services has sounded the beagle. More than one million species of plants and animals are at risk of extinction, and are becoming extinct at an alarming rate. The Report finds that more than 40% of amphibian species, almost 33% of reef-forming corals and more than a third of all marine mammals are threatened, and at least 680 vertebrate species had been driven to extinction since the 16th century.  Based on a review of about 15,000 scientific and government sources and compiled by 145 expert authors from 50 countries, the global report is the first comprehensive look in 15 years at the state of the planet’s biodiversity. The report includes, for the first time, indigenous and local knowledge as well as scientific studies. They found overwhelming evidence that human activities are behind nature’s decline. They ranked the major drivers of species decline as land conversion, including deforestationoverfishingbush meat hunting and poaching; climate change; pollution; and invasive alien species. It’s an ominous scene. Dead zones in ocean are increasing, latest data points to about 400 of them covering thousands of acres, forests are becoming silent as insects are vanishing, and grasslands are becoming deserts. The report succinctly points that we must radically change the way we live, including how we use energy to power our societies, grow our food, and manage our waste.

Biodiversity is important in the survival of the ecosystem which is very much connected to human survival. It is also a repository of diverse genetic database of millions of years of evolution as also unique insight into the strategies of survival. Each specie is a genius of its habitat and miraculous ability of life to survive and thrive.  Nature works on mutualism and cooperation, any disturbance of this balance has a reaction that goes deep into the connected equilibrium of life. Nature is an inspiration, guide and source of our wisdom, creative impulses and deepest connection to our being. The loss of each specie diminishes our ability to connect with our planet as also with our own self. We have lot to learn from nautilus.

Terrible angst when the lick is not the same

The despicables who were nurtured, copiously fed, presented with dripping easy licks by caste cannibalised feudal state have shown all kinds of signs of extreme desperations during last five years. They have been cunningly using their devious skills and influence gained from last many decades –fed as legacy of entitlements in amazing milieu of mediocrity commensurating remarkable levels of arrogance in the self-assuredness of ordained place in the universe, to wrestle a narration of angst for the sake of common people. The guardian angels of primitive society that seeks astonishing ways to cannibalize itself estimates as overseers of moral authority, attempted by gandhian mucks as trustees to awe the world (hedonist fattened British fluffs vulnerable to colonial anguish were easy target, who took in from there to piggyback gandhi into stratospheric levels of moral authority, not in small measure, normalizing depravities) as also ooze the semantic puss from the putrid pit into the english. Meanwhile castetva playing liberal were quick to mark english as sign of high merit, with all the inbred skills through frog leaping from depraved sanctum moral vacuum traditions of sanskrit as defining value. Wherein it never occurred to the amazingly limited intellect that language is only a medium, and it fails if it doesn’t connects to surrounding, empathize with people and nature. Hence persistent mop up work through appropriation, plagiarizing or heuristic opportunism, as expected ends up to showcase hypocrisy and hilarious gandhian gaps.

Now it has reached a frenzy as they drool unaware of their own cringing lacuna and nonexistent credibility. With the caste feudal, ie Castetva, losing the grip over state machinery manipulated narrations and the vice grip over common people –that was so very deviously fostered over the decades through degrading and appropriating egalitarian values, the background clatter has become deafening. While they rant, mostly in their own well fed echo chambers, as always keenly keeping score over each other and pleasure thereof, they tirade dire levels of breakdown that common people are to face and attempt to even threaten. Since these specimen were nurtured by state, and were meant to showcase as embellishments in the existential attempts to civilize as liberal, secular, they rarely had any impact on common people (nor were expected to, since these were meant for faraway audience) hence this constant itch to morph putrid pits as diversity while they desperately stitch unity part. West is always the reference for these attempts in their lifelong desire to be accepted, while surreptitiously teaming to conceal putrid hometruth as they sashay into foreign lands as representing top predators in gandhian moral web. Meanwhile in the last many decades castetva has, apart from heli-dropping caste feudals as leaders, hedonists with hint of art hence assumed as liberal, opinion makers, artists so on through state largesse dumped on to beleaguered people. They cultivated ecosystem that nurtured these as aspirational, while these cunning hopped to squatter temples for hapless people to emulate so as to improve their chance with fate as has so miraculously happen with them. Castetva has finally left the putrid society at the doorstep of hindutva. Hindutva is the real deal while castetva is fake, and indeed worked to create a degraded ecosystem for hindutva to function. If this society had taken the opportunity provided by democracy to work on progressive anti-caste egalitarian value system and long rich traditions of enlighten thoughts that can be traced from Buddha to Nanak -who were forced to move out of putrid pit instead by cunning caste cannibals, who, as is the nature, aligned with power to control narration thus degrading the society and causing untold misery to common people as also exposing to marauding invaders and colonizers. There is a narration pushed by castetva, now handed over to hindutva, that india –assuming it was single entity, was a ‘sone ki chidiya’. The sad reality was that the valuables (including soul of people) were sucked in by devious squatters into sanctum leaving a mediocrity thriving cannibalistic impoverished society exposed and vulnerable. Sone ki ghanta.

It is contribution of these depraved narration that castetva nurtured exotic pets with Muslim names (minor reference of christian names, rarely Sikhs or Buddhists –who are seen as slaves hence proprietorial right), while semiliterate were rounded in with religious pandering of the extreme kind, nuance was sought with hedonists. The society suffered severely because of the devious value system of the arrogant and entitled. The backlash against serious sinister wahabi salafi sunni intrusions have communalized societies and wiped out benign traditions. I have travelled, indeed cycled, along the west coast stretch and it’s easy to see the impact particularly in Karnataka. It’s also not uncommon that this castetva deviousness has helped unleash crude form of reactionary hindutva in these regions.

So, today I was reading one of the exotic pet with muslim name, many columnists (assumed to be opinion makers but hardly matter except in echo chamber of feudal liberal posers in little pits of big cities) and so called journalists like him, who were fed and fattened in last many decades to strengthen devious narrations, are getting restive and indeed spewing propaganda against hindutva (who ofcourse have their own deafening echo chambers energized with enthusiasm of new entrants into the game). This sycophantic ‘senior’ journalist, as expected casteist to the core –designed to the requirements of castetva, is a class act to understand these exotic species, at one instance he elaborates that he “travelled 110countries, and would like to be born again in India”. The deep state has evidently nurtured him and so he knows how to play the game, hence assertion to be “born again” by a muslim is tick on the box of syncretic culture. Indeed this representative specie has been thriving on this fertile ground that is carefully constructed as syncretic, fulfilling all the castetva requirements These inane statements though ridiculous has been carefully calibrated into high art, as also its sly wink at sanctum “born again through which vagina” record keepers (I am told purity mami –the inhouse disgust at Kasturi&sons draws ‘kolam’ on Sundays in marina beach to propitiate secular liberal gods for matrimonial profit. Such is the scrotum scratcher’s legacy that soda sugar seller nooyi muyi also acknowledges from US of A that its a divine gift specially packed and sent through dick-vagina intersection).
Coming back to ‘travelled 110countries’ fellow, also moonwalking as journalist, when cornered he will snarl and scrap even the bottom –that incidentally is defining characteristic. Such is the dedication to hand that nurtures. Look at the shocking assertion made by him that emergency “embarrassed Mrs. Gandhi herself which is why she called general elections”. Embarrassed you say you scoundrel. Embarrassed? When thousands and thousands of people were jailed and killed/maimed. What is beyond embarrassment was that she wasn’t held responsible and prosecuted for atrocities during emergency. The deep state (entrenched castetva force) needed her. Indeed none of these thugs masquerading as leaders were ever prosecuted. They have created a self-sustaining system that take cares of their needs, and common people are expendable as is fated. Millions of people in this country have the worst life than anywhere else in the planet, almost all of them sanctum fated. This society has rotted beyond redemption, and these liberal posturers are undertakers of misery. Meanwhile the fellow merrily carries on “Indira Gandhi appeared to have chastened into Hinduism once she returned to power in 1980. Operation bluestar was launched in this mood…” Mood?! Look at the audacity of this man. Not that we should be surprised, this man like many of his ilk that stampede power corridors of delhi was chosen and nurtured by caste cannibal feudals over the decades, and now he is duty bound to pay back the largesse. “Namak ki keemath”. Hence these maddening outburst which even tests reader’s sanity. He elucidates his ivory tower mindset (always obsessed with themselves and their ordained role, they lack respect and empathy for common people), the casteist lout eking on gravy train posits that caste politics weakens caste hierarchy, while hindutva stabilizes caste pyramid. In his enthusiasm he justifies castetva agenda, that hints as concern, of ardent desire to equalise the putrid pits. The problem here is; One, its remains a putrid pit meant to ensnare common people and society into degradation that is worse than racism. Second, the innate values associated with cannibalistic system doesn’t have any basis of equality meanwhile rich tradition of egalitarian value system seeks annihilation, nor does we need any system which tells humans living in neighborhood for ages are indeed equal! And lastly, common people have other existential issues, in what is essentially corrupt nepotism driven crude society, and however hard these pretentious scoundrels posit, these matter are crucial in their bleak life as they face all kinds of exploitation. Election provides an opportunity to assert their right, however insignificant it may seem. This seems to be the only hope, futile as it is, against overwhelming unsurmountable odds.

Essentially these high end pretenders recruited by castetva forces to what is postured as attempts to stop hindutva is feeding on the corner of the same pit. To fatten over misery of common people. Castetva is fake, and have severely eroded indian society with state machinery and power structure in last many decades. Significantly it has played a major role in defining hindutva. Hindutva is real and to a large extend reflects the nature of society. Its rise to prominence, replacing castetva, needs to be noted as an assertion. It needs to be seen how it negotiates value system and assimilates society into egalitarian context, arduous task considering the damage castetva has done. Therefore the egalitarian traditions that has been negated must consolidate to assert, influence, and if need be, oppose hindutva. Though this blogger believes that the egalitarian humanitarian stream of Hinduism has lot to offer (within the limited context of absurdities of religions ofcourse). Meanwhile castetva, and its exotic pets and hanger on, have no role whatsoever. They can assilimate back into hindutva fold and have space  to push it into extreme right, as the cunning ordained mindset is attuned to, while it take common people as fodder for devious sanctum inspired fate.

Extinction rebellion

Quite a significant movement

This a speech by Greta Thunberg, wonderfully precocious.
My name is Greta Thunberg. I am 16 years old. I come from Sweden. And I speak on behalf of future generations. I know many of you don’t want to listen to us — you say we are just children. But we’re only repeating the message of the united climate science.
Many of you appear concerned that we are wasting valuable lesson time, but I assure you we will go back to school the moment you start listening to science and give us a future. Is that really too much to ask?
In the year 2030 I will be 26 years old. My little sister Beata will be 23. Just like many of your own children or grandchildren. That is a great age, we have been told. When you have all of your life ahead of you. But I am not so sure it will be that great for us.
I was fortunate to be born in a time and place where everyone told us to dream big. I could become whatever I wanted to. I could live wherever I wanted to. People like me had everything we needed and more. Things our grandparents could not even dream of. We had everything we could ever wish for and yet now we may have nothing.
Now we probably don’t even have a future any more. Because that future was sold so that a small number of people could make unimaginable amounts of money. It was stolen from us every time you said that the sky was the limit, and that you only live once.
You lied to us. You gave us false hope. You told us that the future was something to look forward to. And the saddest thing is that most children are not even aware of the fate that awaits us. We will not understand it until it’s too late. And yet we are the lucky ones. Those who will be affected the hardest are already suffering the consequences. But their voices are not heard.
Is my microphone on? Can you hear me?
Around the year 2030, 10 years 252 days and 10 hours away from now, we will be in a position where we set off an irreversible chain reaction beyond human control, that will most likely lead to the end of our civilisation as we know it. That is unless in that time, permanent and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society have taken place, including a reduction of CO2 emissions by at least 50%.
And please note that these calculations are depending on inventions that have not yet been invented at scale, inventions that are supposed to clear the atmosphere of astronomical amounts of carbon dioxide. Furthermore, these calculations do not include unforeseen tipping points and feedback loops like the extremely powerful methane gas escaping from rapidly thawing arctic permafrost.
Nor do these scientific calculations include already locked-in warming hidden by toxic air pollution. Nor the aspect of equity — or climate justice — clearly stated throughout the Paris agreement, which is absolutely necessary to make it work on a global scale.
We must also bear in mind that these are just calculations. Estimations. That means that these “points of no return” may occur a bit sooner or later than 2030. No one can know for sure. We can, however, be certain that they will occur approximately in these time frames, because these calculations are not opinions or wild guesses.
These projections are backed up by scientific facts, concluded by all nations through the IPCC. Nearly every single major national scientific body around the world unreservedly supports the work and findings of the IPCC. Did you hear what I just said? Is my English OK? Is the microphone on? Because I’m beginning to wonder.
During the last six months I have traveled around Europe for hundreds of hours in trains, electric cars and buses, repeating these life-changing words over and over again. But no one seems to be talking about it, and nothing has changed. In fact, the emissions are still rising.
When I have been travelling around to speak in different countries, I am always offered help to write about the specific climate policies in specific countries. But that is not really necessary. Because the basic problem is the same everywhere. And the basic problem is that basically nothing is being done to halt – or even slow – climate and ecological breakdown, despite all the beautiful words and promises.
The UK is, however, very special. Not only for its mind-blowing historical carbon debt, but also for its current, very creative, carbon accounting.
Since 1990 the UK has achieved a 37% reduction of its territorial CO2 emissions, according to the Global Carbon Project. And that does sound very impressive. But these numbers do not include emissions from aviation, shipping and those associated with imports and exports. If these numbers are included the reduction is around 10% since 1990 — or an an average of 0.4% a year, according to Tyndall Manchester.
And the main reason for this reduction is not a consequence of climate policies, but rather a 2001 EU directive on air quality that essentially forced the UK to close down its very old and extremely dirty coal power plants and replace them with less dirty gas power stations. And switching from one disastrous energy source to a slightly less disastrous one will of course result in a lowering of emissions.
But perhaps the most dangerous misconception about the climate crisis is that we have to “lower” our emissions. Because that is far from enough. Our emissions have to stop if we are to stay below 1.5-2º C of warming. The “lowering of emissions” is of course necessary but it is only the beginning of a fast process that must lead to a stop within a couple of decades, or less. And by “stop” I mean net zero — and then quickly on to negative figures. That rules out most of today’s politics.
The fact that we are speaking of “lowering” instead of “stopping” emissions is perhaps the greatest force behind the continuing business as usual. The UK’s active current support of new exploitation of fossil fuels — for example, the UK shale gas fracking industry, the expansion of its North Sea oil and gas fields, the expansion of airports as well as the planning permission for a brand new coal mine — is beyond absurd.
This ongoing irresponsible behavior will no doubt be remembered in history as one of the greatest failures of humankind.
People always tell me and the other millions of school strikers that we should be proud of ourselves for what we have accomplished. But the only thing that we need to look at is the emission curve. And I’m sorry, but it’s still rising. That curve is the only thing we should look at.
Every time we make a decision we should ask ourselves; how will this decision affect that curve? We should no longer measure our wealth and success in the graph that shows economic growth, but in the curve that shows the emissions of greenhouse gases. We should no longer only ask, “Have we got enough money to go through with this?” but also, “Have we got enough of the carbon budget to spare to go through with this?” That should and must become the center of our new currency.
Many people say that we don’t have any solutions to the climate crisis. And they are right. Because how could we? How do you “solve” the greatest crisis that humanity has ever faced? How do you “solve” a war? How do you “solve” going to the moon for the first time? How do you “solve” inventing new inventions?
The climate crisis is both the easiest and the hardest issue we have ever faced. The easiest because we know what we must do. We must stop the emissions of greenhouse gases. The hardest because our current economics are still totally dependent on burning fossil fuels, and thereby destroying ecosystems in order to create everlasting economic growth.
“So, exactly how do we solve that?” you ask us — the schoolchildren striking for the climate. And we say, “No one knows for sure. But we have to stop burning fossil fuels and restore nature and many other things that we may not have quite figured out yet.”
Then you say: “That’s not an answer!” So we say: “We have to start treating the crisis like a crisis — and act even if we don’t have all the solutions.”
“That’s still not an answer,” you say. Then we start talking about circular economy and rewilding nature and the need for a just transition. Then you don’t understand what we are talking about.
We say that all those solutions needed are not known to anyone and therefore we must unite behind the science and find them together along the way. But you do not listen to that. Because those answers are for solving a crisis that most of you don’t even fully understand. Or don’t want to understand.
You don’t listen to the science because you are only interested in solutions that will enable you to carry on like before. Like now. And those answers don’t exist any more. Because you did not act in time.
Avoiding climate breakdown will require cathedral thinking. We must lay the foundation while we may not know exactly how to build the ceiling.
Sometimes we just simply have to find a way. The moment we decide to fulfill something, we can do anything. And I’m sure that the moment we start behaving as if we were in an emergency, we can avoid climate and ecological catastrophe. Humans are very adaptable: we can still fix this. But the opportunity to do so will not last for long. We must start today. We have no more excuses.
We children are not sacrificing our education and our childhood for you to tell us what you consider is politically possible in the society that you have created. We have not taken to the streets for you to take selfies with us, and tell us that you really admire what we do.
We children are doing this to wake the adults up. We children are doing this for you to put your differences aside and start acting as you would in a crisis. We children are doing this because we want our hopes and dreams back.
I hope my microphone was on. I hope you could all hear me.
