It wouldn’t be as bad as Indira Gandhi’s regime

There are apprehensions being raised (by none other than the likes of Salman Rushdie, who spends few days in a year in India) about threat to freedom of expressions and so on under Narendra Modi’s government. Firstly, people are assuming it will be Modi’s government, though there is a large likelihood, these have got consolidated in recent time with him being blamed for all and sundry happenings, and all kind of crooked and disgusting people masquerading secularism. It has acquired a cottage industry status to save the country from Modi with dubious people and attention seekers stampeding for light under the sun (or is it camera). There is a massive positioning going on. It has less to do with common people and more to do with elitizens positioning (competing is a better word) with each other for whatever they can gather.

Secondly, Emergency was the worst period in independent India's history. Indira Gandhi should have been tried for treason, or atleast banished from public life. Emergency was an unpardonable act. The kind of atrocities committed has not been completely brought to light. Rajan murder in Kerala was only the tip of an iceberg of colossal miseries (It is akin to Sikh massacre which only came into significance after Gujarat. Unlike Narendra Modi, Rajiv Gandhi was never seen to be part of the conspiracy, I find that amazing. Is it good looks or good english and sophistication, I am wondering what is it? Or is it mullah’s angst masquerading secularism?). There is a massive cover up by the section of elite who gained and therefore played their part in degrading the opposition leaders and parties, during and after the emergency which paved the way for Congress return. They haven’t allowed these atrocities to be mainstreamed. Some of their progenies have migrated to foreign land (mostly Europe) and have since become our long distance conscience keepers, therefore corruption is never an issue as they gain from these. It needed a hindutva consolidation to challenge this monopoly of Congress at an all India level, this again is elitist but does break the status quo. The hegemony of exploitative corporate will therefore continue.

The kind of quelling that Indian people saw during emergency was the nadir and I don’t think any government will ever come close to it. The people involved in these atrocities continued to be in political life without as much as battling an eyelid. Take for instance, Ambika Soni who till few years back was Union Information Minister (it’s akin to Tagodia becoming Minister of Tolerance!!), she was subsequently dumped due to incompetence. I guess garb of secularism can wash away even the worst of crimes. Nobody objected to these is a serious question mark on competence of media. Also the remnant of highhandedness still exist, state media is being used as personal fiefdom even now, recent incident are only symptoms of bigger malaise. Wonder what Mrinal Pandey has to say on these matter, I am sure she has resigned or is she still concerned about how people pronounce the word ‘media’ and other bedtime anecdotes, hilarities!

The new entrant in media radar is Priyanka Gandhi, I am wondering who is she. I see her before every election waving at people and blurting one-liners that media laps. Last time, in what was a disgusting attempt to woo the voters, they even brought her children to campaign. Indeed the media (as well as so called intelligentsias) interest is nothing but feudal. Priyanka Gandhi has not held any position of authority in government or in the party then what is her locus standi? Why is she given importance? Furthermore in an amazing act of indecency she snubbed Modi for ‘calling her daughter’. There is a difference between calling someone a daughter and ‘daughter like’ (which is a common usage).  This kind of visceral reactions are uncalled for and has brought down the standard of political debate and social etiquette.

Media should explain on what basis they are giving importance to Priyanka Gandhi, if they mock dynasty politics (which indeed is not confined to congress nor to political field) then their interest in her is nothing but feudal. Vice-versa these deviant interests are being milked by someone who is not been responsible for anything. So what is the authority of her statement? In that case each Indian’s statement should be headlines. In the last many years she hasn’t had any involvement, so why now this sudden interest before election? I find that obnoxiously opportunist, pliable media –who themselves are product of feudalism, is playing ball as they always do. I am told India is world’s largest democracy.

Stop the Gandhian non violent casteism or demolish the temples
People protest against heinous culture inside temples (this time in Udupi). Supreme court should take suo moto on these. There are too many entrenched interest in these miseries. If they find it difficult to change their culture then demolish the temple and make a park or public toilet. Park is a better idea, since it would add to greenery as also as an Indian male I have the right to piss anywhere including parks, while you cannot make a park inside a toilet.
