See, I am dying
Do you see the caterpillar wriggling
in desperation
to escape the forest fire?
He will not metamorphize into
butterfly.
He will die.
See the carcass of interwoven emaciated
giraffes
Etch art of horror
On dried pond.
See the death.
I am dying too.
Sea turtle skeleton
Choked in plastic
Wash up on beach.
Dead fishes fill the river.
Dead birds fall from the sky.
Dead insects fill the shade.
Earth heats.
Glacier melts.
Ocean warms.
Clouds burst.
Rivers evaporate.
Sometimes I feel the caterpillar
inside me
Waiting to metamorphize.
Into all the colors.
All the voices.
My heart beats too
But it loses the rhythm of life.
