International Biodiversity Day

With biodiversity degrading at an alarming rate due to various factors, very much anthropogenic -increasing human population and consumption economics are major contributors. There is dwindling genetic diversity, vanishing species and ecosystem degradation whether land, freshwater to ocean. With loss of biodiversity the resilience of life is diminished. We are in the midst of 6th extinction event.

With heavy pre-monsoon showers little garden snails are out in the open, this one I saw today morning perched on resplendent peacock flower plant (also known as pride of Barbados).
